Family Day
This year I want to teach my students the need for serving and sharing their music. One way we can do that is by playing music for the residents at the Westpointe Retirement Center, located by Scenic Highway. I have scheduled a visit there so we can be a blessing to others and so my students have a low-pressure opportunity to play some songs. Each student will be able to play 1-2 pieces from material covered in previous lessons. One song must be one already learned in the fall. The other can be a new song learned in January or another from the fall. Everyone will have something to play! Parents, if you want to get involved by playing a duet with your student or playing another instrument, let me know. There is no cost for this event. Make plans for your whole family(grandparents, cousins, friends, etc.) to come out and support your student.
Sonata Contest
Saturday March 19th
UWF Center for Fine & Performing Arts
Cost: $15 for most events - Due by Jan. 14th. No Exceptions
If you are not familiar with the Pensacola Music Teachers Association Sonata Contest, you need to be! This annual event provides our local musicians an opportunity to learn a sonata/sonatina on their level, receive helpful comments from a judge, and have the experience of preparing a memorized song on a competitive level. With over 500 students consistently, it is one of the largest Sonata Contests in the nation. I would love for 100% participation this year. I am even learning a sonata for the adult division! The cost is $15 and must be in by Friday, Jan. 14th. This can be included in the January tuition for convenience if you would like. I need a yes or no response from everyone, so please e-mail me and let me know if you are interested in entering your student.
