August/September Updates

Back to school means back to piano lessons! I am itching to get everyone back in the studio and making more music. Lessons will start Thursday, September 1st. There are no lessons Aug. 29, 30, or 31.

Be sure you read the Studio Policies on my website for updates in the 2011-2012 year. One major change is the addition of a Materials Account. Instead of you running around and buying music, or my nagging to pay a registration fee for an event, I will take care of all the purchasing and registering through the money in the Materials Account. Each student will need to include a $40 deposit with the September tuition. This will last many through the year. Any transaction to your $40 will be noted in a statement sent home. More information is in the Studio Policies.

Take a look at the calendar and save those dates now. You're going to want to hear about the Federation Cup Festival in February!

Lesson Reminders

1. Tuition is due at the first lesson of the month. A receipt will be given. No reminders will go out.
2. Have your student bring all their books/practice folder to each lesson.
3. Please knock; do not ring the doorbell. Out of courtesy for the student before you, please enter no earlier than 2 minutes before your assigned time.
4. Please be punctual picking up your student at the end of the lesson. Parents are welcome to stay, as long as it does not interfere with the lesson.
5. Read the monthly newsletter under Studio News the first day of each month.
6. Honor Club begins in September.

We all know that parental involvement with any sort of study can play a major role in student success, and that is certainly true for piano lessons! Even if you have a musical background, it's still sometimes difficult to know how to best help your child succeed at the piano. Please join us at Dollarhide's Music Center for our Piano Parent Workshop, and we will share information and practical advice to help you be the best piano parent you can be!

  • Find out how to make the most of your lesson and practice time
  • Hear from a piano teacher about the practice methods that work
  • Learn what to listen for in your child's practice, and how to help
  • See, hear and feel the difference between keyboards, digital pianos and acoustic pianos
  • Learn how to shop for a used piano

No registration is required, and we promise that this will be a fun and informative session!
