March Updates

What: Sonata Contest Workshop
When: Sunday, March 4th
Where: Home of Deanne Harmon
Time: 2:00-3:00 and 3:30-4:30 sessions

A fellow colleague, Deanne Harmon, has just offered her home for a workshop this Sunday. She and I will workshop each other’s students to prepare them for Sonata Contest. This is a great opportunity to work out their nerves before the contest. Students can play with music if they’d like or test out their memory! I will be there the whole time supervising your child. There is limited seating in her home if you wish to stay or you may pick up your child at the end of his session. Due to limited space we are asking that you stay at the session assigned to you. I will need you to RSVP to my e-mail to reserve your spot. For privacy reasons I will e-mail you her address and not post it here. She lives 1 mile east of my house off Creighton Rd.

Sonata Contest
Voice - March 10 at First Baptist Church Chapel
Piano - March 17 at UWF Center for Fine and Performing Arts

Please see previous post for performance times and announcements. Please remember your child must bring his original copy with measure numbers marked. Feel free to erase my markings so it looks like a clean copy. You do not need to check into the welcome table. You can go straight to your room location. I would ask my students to be dressy for this event. No jeans, t-shirts, or flip-flops. Remember to go to the Mainstage Theatre after your performance to wait for the awards announcement. There are no warm-up rooms the day of. Just encourage your child to have fun and relax. Help me by not making them stressed or nervous before playing. Winners Recital is March 24 at Dollarhide's Music Center.

Julian Toha Piano Concert
Friday, April 13 at 7:00pm
St. Paul Lutheran Church on 9th Ave.

I am asking everyone to be at this concert if possible. I was thrilled to book Julian and hear of his unique take on concerts. There will be lots of visual arts to keep your child connected with the music. The concert is free, and donations are welcome at the door. This is a great way to get your child pumped up for Student Day the following day. Would you take a moment and show your child Julian's webpage? There are a few promo videos for his tour.
