November/December Announcements

Tuition
Reminder that tuition is due by the first of each month and a late fee is applied to your account after the 7th of the month. December tuition can be dropped off at studio class next week or mailed in or you can use paypal or credit/debit card. January is tricky since we are coming off of Christmas break, so please help me by planning ahead through that.

Studio Class
Just a reminder that next week we are not having lessons at your regularly assigned times. Studio Class is Monday at 4:00-5:00
Tuesday at 4:00-5:00 and 5:15-6:15
Wednesday at 4:00-5:00
If you haven't signed up yet, please do so your student doesn't miss out. Everyone should come with one song ready to play for the group. It can even be part of a song. I'll have everything else ready.
Have a great Thanksgiving break!

Christmas Party
Monday, December 16
5:00 & 6:15
Dollarhide's Music Center

A highlight each year is watching the student play their Christmas music. They are so motivated by the seasonal music. You have the option of 2 different recitals to attend. I know it was long last year =)!
There is now a sign up sheet on my board for you to sign up for which recital you would like to attend and if you would like to bring Christmas goodies. Music does NOT have to be memorized. This is a casual, low stress recital. Lots of fun. I'd love to see many of you there.

Federation Festival
February 1 or 2 - Varela Music Studio (Rehearsal and Theory Test) *Required to  Participate
Saturday at 2:00 or Sunday at 2:00
February 8 Northwest Florida State College, Niceville (Performance)
Assigned Times TBA

This is my favorite and preferred event of the year for my students. Many students have participated in this for one or two years, while many may wish to enter students for the first time. It is a non-competitive event, requiring students to play two songs by memory (one being THEIR choice!) Students are put into small groups of about 8 students and they play their songs for an adjudicator, who then gives them written comments. THAT'S IT! What's the big incentive? These trophies in the picture below! This event motivates students to continue with piano for the long-term by awarding them Gold Cup Trophies when they reach 15 points (usually by participating 3-4 years) Many are on their way to earning their trophies this year, so you will see them receive their trophies at the Awards Recital in May. Please don't let the drive scare you. It is about 50 minutes to the college and you are there for roughly one hour and 15 minutes. The cost ranges from $25-$36. This is open to all in my studio, but the only way to participate is for you as the parent to reply and let me know by December 13. Please strongly consider putting your student in this event. I am already prepping my students for this, so trust me they will be easily ready for this.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH
TRENTON BROWING

Trenton is a 2nd grader and part of the PATS program. He enjoys soccer, horse back riding, legos, chocolate, mac 'n cheese. Oh yeah, and MINDCRAFT!  He's done so well this month keeping up with his lesson book and Christmas music. His touch and hand position are improving each week. We're enjoying doing duets with his Christmas music too. He's always a ham at the recital, so you'll know to look for him. Congratulations Trenton.
