Music Teachers National Association (MTNA)  National Conference
I'm thankful for the break I had and the time or learning and inspiration at the national conference. I've been to our state conference a few times, but never the national. This was amazing. And look who I met? I met many of the composers and authors of the music your children play.

                                              There were so many good sessions to attend.

 There weren't just sessions. The national student competition was taking place as well. This was the winning Chamber Group from Vanderbilt University.

                 Christopher Goldston - Composed of my favorite pieces to teach, Night Train.

 Helen Marlais, author of Succeeding at the Piano and Kevin Olson. Chances are I've taught your child something by Kevin Olson (Out...standing, Sonatina of the Old West, Sonatina in Flight, Sonatina in Season, Sonatina in Colors, Preludes in Pattern). If I had to choose the music of one living composer to teach, it would be his.

Catherine Rollin - composer of so much music (Museum Masterpieces, Pathways to Artistry). This piece I'm holding, El Conquistador, was one of the first pieces that gave me the chance as a student to express big emotions at the piano. It was also the first time I heard Spanish music at the piano.
