February Updates
"Share the Love"
Feb. 12th, Saturday 2 P.M. - 3 P.M.
Westpointe Retirement Center
5101 Northpointe Parkway
Pensacola, FL 32514
Victor Hugo said "Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent." It's time for our students to no longer be silent, but to share their love of music. Everyone has picked two songs they love and can play well. On Feb. 12th, we will go to a retirement center and play for the residents there. I have met with their directors and assure you they are excited to have us and will make us feel welcome. Light refreshments will be served afterward. Please have your student there by 1:40. We will start promptly at 2:00.
Westpointe is located just north of I-10, Exit 17. Turn left onto Northpointe Blvd, just past the BP Gas station. Westpointe is the big building with a red roof, located just up the road on the LEFT side. They have another building on the right side, but that is not where we will be playing.

Sonata Contest
March 19th, Saturday
UWF - Center for Performing Arts
Performance times TBA
Sonata Contest is coming quickly. Be sure to encourage your student to be playing the selected song. It's not too early to memorize it too. Would you help me teach your child how to handle competitions. I want everyone to do their best and be ready enough to win 1st place. However, I don't want students not prepared on how to handle rejection. These judges listen to about 15 students play the same song. It's very hard to pick a winner if everyone does well.
To help those entered in the contest, I am having a PRACTICE Sonata Contest with a fellow colleague, Deanne Harmon. This will be at her home studio, which is about .7 miles from me off Creighton Rd. Details are below. Combining my students with hers will fill the house. If you are comfortable leaving your child with me while you shop or get a coffee, that will be greatly appreciated. If you would like to stay, we ask that only one parent come. Remember this is just a practice, not a public recital. Our goal is that this will knock of most the "contest nerves". We will have two different sessions. Let me know which one works best for you. Information about this event is found below.
