May Updates

Awards Recital
Date:          May 17, Thursday
Time:          6:00-7:30 PM
Location:    Dollarhide's Music Center
Drop-Off:   by 5:40

Make plans to be at the Awards Recital. You will hear pianist, singers, and a guitarist show off their hard work. This year's theme is Americana. Dress if formal/semi-formal. Ladies should wear a nice Sunday dress. Guys should wear a shirt and tie. If would be great to see many students wearing Red, White, and/or Blue as possible. It'll make for a great picture. Parents, I could use some help with desserts. Again, anything decorated red, white, and/or blue would be great. If you'd like to help with providing 2 dozen cookies or baked goods, let me know.

The call time for all students is 5:40. I have a brief meeting with the students in the back conference room, so please help me by getting your child there on time. Your student will perform two songs this night. I'm asking them to do at least one by memory. Awards and recognitions will be made at the end, so please plan on staying for the entire recital. Refreshments will be served.

Summer Lessons
By now you should have received a letter with information regarding summer lessons. These are offered for 8 weeks through June and July. Lessons are on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 2-6 to allow everyone a long weekend for traveling. I hope many will consider doing this. The students really enjoy the stress-free time to play with no performances to think about. Please send me those forms as soon as possible so I can reserve your preferred time and put together a schedule. If you need another form, let me know.

Summer Music Day Camp
I am excited to have the opportunity to provide Pensacola with a week long music camp this summer. Some of the things your student will enjoy doing is working on music software, writing his own songs, performing with other musicians, and even being part of a hand-chime choir. Each week of camp will end with a night of performances for family and friends. Camp is open to students of any instrument who have completed at least a year of music lessons. Cost is $100 for the week. There are two sessions to choose from: July 30-Aug 3 or Aug 6-Aug 10. Camp is from 1-5pm and will be held at Dollarhide's Music Center. This is not limited to students from my studio. Please spread the word if you know of someone who may be interested.

New House
We are moving! God has been so good to allow us to buy our first house. We will be moving at the end of May. I will finish lessons through May at my current home. Summer lessons starting June 5 will be at our new house. Let me spruce up the place before you decide to drive by and check it out. It needs some landscaping. =) It is just down the road from where I am now in the Camelot subdivision, off 9th Ave, near  Olive Road. It is literally 1 minute down the road. The accommodations will be much better for lessons. I will provide you with the address in lessons, instead of posting it publicly here. Bear with me if I go crazy by the end of May. Now, you know why.

Youth Choir and Drama
Sunday, May 13, at 6:00 Olive Baptist Church will be presenting a youth drama called "What If? Stories of teens who changed their world". My wife and I are directing this. It is really inspirational and will challenge you and your young person to do what's right even when things are hard. Admission is free and open to the public. I would love to see you there.  http://www.olivebaptist.org/Music/
