Student Day/ Music Development Program
Congratulations to everyone who participtaed in Student Day. I was so proud of everyone and impressed with how well you did. Over 25 of my students participated. Everyone passed his level and 8 were chosen to   perform at the Honors Recital. This was not an easy assessment. Congratulations on all your had work.

Nine of my student will be doing an assessment through the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program on May 18th, the day after our Awards Recital. This is an assessment with a similar format to Student Day. Requirements include 3-5 memorized pieces, various major and minor scales, chords in all inversion, and aural training. I look forward to brinigng you good results from this group.

Summer Lessons/Piano Camp
Info letters have gone home about summer lessons. If you did not get one, please pick one up this week. Summer lessons will be Tues, Wed, and Thurs. I would strongly encourage you to consider keeping your child in lessons through the summer. So much progress is made over the summers. The atmosphere is much more relaxed without competitions/evaluations during this time. Many finish lesson books during this time, improve on reading, and choose some favorite songs they have always wanted to get to. Lessons will be offered June 3rd -July 26.

Piano camp will be July 29-August 2. This is a change in date from my last announcement. If your student has never done ensemble playing, he needs to go to Piano camp! He will have a blast making friends and playing duets, trios,  and quartets. Everyone even writes their own composition and takes it home with them on paper! Cost is $100 and will take place at Dollarhide's Music Center from 1-5pm Monday-Friday. To register, fill out the form that went home or just e-mail me expressing interest. A deposit of $25 is needed to hold your spot, and the remaining $75 can be paid the first day of camp.

Awards Recital
Our end of the year recital is quickly approaching. Everyone will play one song by memory. Your student has signed up for a song on my board in case you need to check which song they should be working on. This is a formal event. Boys should wear a shirt and tie and girls should wear a Sunday dress. This will be at 6:00pm at Dollarhide's.  I need all students there by 5:35. I will have a sign up sheet posted for finger foods/ dessert. If you have a favorite recipe, feel free to sign up for something. Please don't forget we have one more lesson after the recital. May 20-24 is the last week of lessons. If I owe your child one make up lesson, you will receive an e-mail from me soon. Make up days will be  May 29 & May 30.

April Student of the Month
Tarra Talbert

Tarra did fantastic in the month of April, completing Student Day Level 5! She scored a 100% on her written test and a 100% on her technique. Plus, she was chosen to perform at the Honors Concert for her outstanding job on Symphony of Spring. Tarra is a junior in high school and her favorite subject is Math. She likes the color pink, Barq's Root Beer, chicken, and Pride and Prejudice. She has been dancing ballet since she was 4. Great job Tarra!

I also want to recognize a few students for special honors recently.
