It's been great having everybody back for lessons. This year I'm having students write their assignments down (if they can. I won't ask K-2nd graders to do it.) They shouldn't forget what it is they should be doing. You can always check their music binders to see what they should be doing.
Please help your student establish good routines these next few weeks. If they don't "get into the groove" now, you're going to be wondering why your child isn't "getting it" months from now. Have fun incentives at home and spread out playing time. Don't limit him to playing only one time of the day. Ask your child what their favorite piece is to play and ask for a mini-concert. Video them playing and share it with family on social media or youtube. It lets them know that their playing is important to you too. From time to time your child will have a piece with a listening CD or he can listen to it on youtube. Use both resources to reinforce learning.
Remember your child will have ups and downs during the year. It's not realistic to think every week is going to be a banner week. Support them in the off weeks and now that a better week is just around the corner.
The Studio Calendar is now live on the website. Sorry it was still showing last year's dates. No matter what day your child has lessons, everyone gets exactly 34 lessons. No day is better than the other. I actually have 35 weeks built in the calendar, in case I have an emergency sickness/jury duty, etc. You know you still are getting what you paid for. If I don't get sick, you get a bonus extra lesson. There are 3 Studio Classes to attend outside of weekly lessons. I'll remind you of course as these dates get closer.
Most of you know Dollarhide's has retired. They've been great for our community. We wish them well. Blues Angel Music Store is now our Music Teacher "Home". We will have Baroque Festival there and they can handle all your musical needs, no matter what instrument. I purchase music for your child throughout the year, but you want anything extra or if you need anything, they can get it for you. Let's support them.
