October is here! One of my goals for August/September was to establish good routines with your child to set us up for a successful year. How do you feel like that is going at home? Is your student playing 5-6 days a week? Do you hear scales, arpeggios, cadences, and chords being used for warm-ups? Do you hear improvement on their music? If not, would you touch base with them and help them stick to their routine.
Baroque Festival is coming up soon. If your child is learning a Baroque piece, I will be asking them this week to prepare it for the festival in Novemenber. If your student is not working on Baroque music right now, that's okay. They are still welcome to come and be a part of the festivities. It's a great day to experience music and life from 1600-1750.

Please save the dates on the website calendar for the year. One I want to mention is the PMTA Teachers Recital that will be Friday night, February 1st. It's a Fundraiser event for our Scholarship Fund. Local teachers, including yours truly, will be performing. More details to come.

Congratulations to Katie Hilliard on making All-State in Chorus. Katie is a junior at Pace High School. My favorite comment was "The theory test was easy because of what I've learned in piano". She'll be representing Santa Rosa County in January at the All-State Convention.
