November Announcements

NOVEMBER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Spring events are fast approaching. Those who want to play at Federation Festival need to be working on their pieces now. After Thanksgiving I'll be in touch with those who want to play at Sonata Contest or Concerto Contest in March.

Tuition
Please remember that tuition is due by the first of each month. You should receive a statement at your child's lesson in the middle of every month.

Studio Class
There are no private lessons the week of Thanksgiving. In place, I hold a Studio Class. My students will get together so we can learn some aspects of music, outside of playing piano solos. Everyone will have a chance to play their favorite solo they know, and I have a great activity to wrap up the hour. Times are Monday at 4:30-5:25 OR 5:30-6:25...or Tuesday 3:30-4:25 OR 4:30-5:25.
Please sign up on the board for a time or e-mail me and I will sign you up.

Swap List
If you would like to be added to a Swap List, where you can contact other parents to switch lessons for unexpected things that come up, please let me know and I will put that together. You are not obligated to switch times, but it's an option for a tight pinch.

Apps for IPAD
I had a refreshing time at state conference a few weeks ago in Tallahassee. One workshop I went to was on Apps. Utilize this if you can:

Rhythm Lab
Better Ears
Auralia Interval Recognition
SIGHT READ PLUS / SIGHT READ MINOR
PIANO MAESTRO - (Like Guitar Hero to piano songs)
Or see http://www.faganpiano.com/technology.html    for more ideas.

Concerts
I ask all my students to attend at least one piano concert a year. I love orchestra and choirs too, but do you know most piano students have never heard a professional, outside of their teacher, perform on their instrument?!?! Crazy. A great opportunity that is FREE is attending a college recital at Penscaola Christian College, University of West Florida, or Pensacola State College. Which the senior recitals aren't "professional" yet, they are pretty good! I will consider taking a group with me if interested.

Christmas Concert
December 16 - Save the Date - More details to come.

Student of the Month

Nataniel Agustin

Nataniel is a 5th grader whose passion is piano and karate. He started off October on fire by learning Mozart's Sonata in C K545. If you don't know the piece, go look it up. Awesome. His next endeavor is to prepare for Federation Festival, including a Mozart Concerto. I'm very proud of this boy.
